I had a girl if I raised my voice to her she would get insulted and go under the bed and pout. No amount of me begging, treats, fav. toy would coax her out. I gave up and ignored her, kinda turned the tables so to say. Dogs are forgiving, she will come to you in her time, she will forgive you. If it were me, I would just ignore her, no fussing, no coaxing. She will eat and drink water when she's hungry and thirsty, dogs will not starve them selves.

I use cotton balls with warm water to soak the goobers, then comb them out.

Gidget sounds like a lil sweetie pie, sometimes we just gotta be tough on ourselves and stay strong but firm for their own sake.
