Well it hasn't gone well here lol. She is a really hyper and high strung dog (lots of personality). I tried benadryl and she's quite sleepy but as soon as I come near her with the swab she rallies and raises holy hell. I am seeing the vet tomorrow and am going to bring the swabs with me to see if she can be of any help. If nothing works I will have to wait until she is spayed and ask them to swab her at that time. I was only able to get a swab in her mouth for a couple seconds. There is simply no way I am going to be able to rub inside her cheek for 20-30 secs as directed.
I've been thinking of puppy classes and after this morning I will be calling around. She's so lucky she's such a sweetheart because man oh man is she a handful
