Yes. In fact, it's recommended that you get the new shingles vaccine if you got the old one in the past. The new one is much more effective. Here is a link to a good article from CBS news about this:

You can get more information from your doctor or pharmacist. So far, my only side effect is slight soreness where I got the injection--kind of like a flu shot.
