Many vets also don't know much about breeding period. They mostly just recycle things that they've heard or was taught but people are learning their ways and views are out dated to the least. I would say it's being done right when you barely have any c-sections most of your puppies live and go on to be service/therapy dogs, police dogs, Champions/ earn titles, and great working dogs, etc.
