I can understand you holding piper if she's the type that would bolt out of your door and into the street / road. I feel by holding her when you're letting in a visitor may give piper the feeling that you're protecting her from your visitors. They are no threat to her when they come in and sit, it's when they get up that Piper goes after them, she may feel threatened by them getting up. It's strange that she is doing this all of a sudden. Did any of your visitors scare her, perhaps dropped something and that scared piper, or laughed loudly, any strange noise that could have scared her.
