We've been trying that with Fabian, too, because he's been seeing insects as a delicacy. Roads and pavement are just a different realm of problems: other dogs' pee and poo, oil and air conditioning drippings, bird droppings, acorns, berries, etc. We just have to be hyper-vigilant, watch EVERYTHING, and keep him on a very short leash.
