I have individual crates in our bedroom, along with the larger one they are using and we have individual ones in the kitchen for when we leave the house. They have not done well being in their individual crates when we leave the house.
The last time we left, we put them in an area of the kitchen and put a bed and toys in there and used a playpen to keep them in. They had access to the pee pad area and water. They seemed to do better with that set up.
My other 2 Yorkies loved their crates. When they would get afraid or stressed, they ran into he crate. We call it their “room”.

They probably don’t want to be separated and really if they are fine I would keep them together. In a new home it might be stressful so they look to each other for comfort.
