How old is he? It's concerning that a vet would prescribe pain meds without any indication of what is wrong, or just a guess that it is a belly ache. What is the name of the medication?
If he is eating, drinking and going potty normally, I would guess that it is not belly related.
When he lies down, is his resting/sleeping position normal? Or does he resting in a different position? Both of my boys have had neck/shoulder strains that caused them to stay pretty quiet and sleep in a different position than they normally would.
