We were not *saving* dogs - we wanted a dog and so we got one. We did not say adoption - adoption is for children, or at least it used to be.
Back then folks were mainly savey about how to be around strange dogs, gosh gee and golly kids were even trained by their parents to be so... Today not so much.
Nothing wrong with saying when asked I think my dog is a mixed breed. |
Back then we bought "used cars" now we buy "pre-owned" cars, just like cross breeds are now "designer" / Hybrid" dogs not mutts, just fancying up the words. Me, I go with the flow, sure I bought a "pre-owned car" lol. Many of these babies are rescued, some could have been euthanized instead they have found loving homes. Due to the ignorance of my boys prev. owner he was going to the kill shelter, the owner didn't know there were rescue shelters. My vets rescue team monitors a high risk website, saw a 2 1/2 yo yorkie on the list to be euthanized, contacted that shelter and relayed this boy from NYC to Pa., that was a "rescue". I see nothing wrong going to shelters and saving a dogs life, that to me is a rescue, to give a dog a loving home where he has freedom and not live his life in a crate, cage or be killed.
