I agree 100%.

If you wanted to add a sentimental note, when my son engraved a memory stone for our beloved Boxer, Boo he engraved her name, a pic of a boxer and the following message:

"A dear friend and loyal companion
Forever we hold you in our hearts"

Here is a link to a pic of Boo's memorial stone -- you could be creative and add something that would be a reminder of the day they lost their beloved...
