 Hair Breakage
We have had a 7 month journey with our 2.5yr old's skin and coat. It began last December with a small bald spot and clumpy hair loss in the surrounding area. Somewhat simultaneously she had generalized thinning.
We worked with a vet and finally decided to remover her microchip because it was in the bald area and treatment did not permanently stop the loss in that area. That was one a month+ ago. She did very will with that and we seemed to have been over the proverbial hump until 4 days ago when we noticed clumpy hair mats around the area again.
Upon close examination, it appears she is not losing any hair but instead it is breaking. The only thing that she experienced right before this was wearing her puppia harness again, so it's possible that the rubbing bothered the area. But I wouldn't say there is proof positive of this.
Before we return to the vet, I put her on antihistamine for the last 4 days. The hair breakage seems to have slowed down, but the connection could be spurious. I have also been doing some reading on hair breakage, most of it wanting me to buy a miracle cure. But cure what??
