I'm not against DE and have read plenty of favorable outcomes about it; it's pretty interesting.
But if you're seeing recurrent staph intermedius (ie, this is pyoderma) infections, then I'd suspect allergies first. I'd also recommend just reviewing symptoms of hypothyroidism and Cushings - only bc both of those cause recurrent/chronic skin and ear infections if untreated or undiagnosed.
