The Skeptvet has an update on canine influenza, as well as several useful links to information about the disease, here:
Canine Influenza Update | The SkeptVet
When we took our Bella in for vaccinations, the vet mentioned that Bella could be vaccinated for canine influenza, and we asked about the incidence in downstate Illinois, and she said that it wasn't a problem in our area--yet. In Illinois, it's still a problem mainly in the Chicago area. Based on that information, we did not get the vaccination. However, the next time we take her to the vet, I will reconsider and probably get her the vaccination. It's highly contagious, and all someone has to do is bring an infected dog down from Chicago and it could spread rapidly. Thanks for raising our awareness of this illness.
