If you haven't any reason to disagree w/ the standard, breed to it. No "teacup" this/that- they're just small Yorkies (out of standard) and shouldn't be encouraged. Remember how far this breed has come from Ben back in the day around 15 lbs. I mean, we've come a LONG way w/ this breed in a relatively short time-which is why we have such a variety today. But there are those of us that truely love the breed as a breed and want it to thrive for even many more years and it can't and won't if the breeders of today don't hold themselves to a higher standard from the breeders from yesteryear. And that means taking advantage of the new tests we've created for these little dogs and showing people (thorugh showing is a fabulous campaign) that the breed as a whole is getting healthier, and still fitting the standard! I LOVE YORKIES!!!
ps a good standard coat is desired and should be closely looked for, but more importantly structure (which can greatly affect health), health, and temperment. |
I don't think that anyone disagrees with you here.

I am very stongly against breeding tinies, please understand that. But could you please advise as to where you get your information as to them being "out of the standard?" I am aware of the maximum wieght guidelines...what are the minimum guidelines...or do you just go by the "common sense" method?
