Default rocky mountain tick fever

Ok. Anna hasn't been well for a while. I took her to the vet a few weeks ago. Her white blood count was very high. She'd lost quite a bit of weight. At that time, no fever. The vet suspected it was because she needed a dental. He put her on antibiotics for her teeth, an anti-inflammatory, and scheduled a dental for tomorrow.....which has now been cancelled.

She finished her antibiotics a few days ago and is progressively getting worse. She also developed a large lump on her back leg and is limping on it. Her other legs tremble when she tries to stand.

I called the vet Monday and he was able to see her today. Her white blood count is lower but still high. He said the lump on her leg is a lymph node and tested her for tick fever. She now has a fever. None of the tests were positive but he said he cannot test for rmsf at his office. He is treating her for it because my husband had it last summer so it is in our area.

She is on antibiotics and had a steroid shot. I am sick. My gut knew it was more than her teeth, but I didn't listen. Feeling very sad tonight and praying that I didn't wait too late to get her some help. She's still eating, but doesn't want water. She's peeing and pooping as normal. It is so hard to see her acting like this.
