I live in Maryland which is a very expensive state to live in a the average yearly income for a vet here is $60,000-$70,000. And if there like my vet they are lucky if they get two days off. My vet doesn't go vaccine happy. After getting the one year rabies shot they get the three year and that's per the law in most places they have to have the one year before the three year. Dap is every three years after the puppy booster. Although I stopped in on my girl after she turned 7 and my vet had no issues with that. My puppy did not get Lepto and after a few years ok doing it with my girl I stopped (it really depends on your area and what you do with your dog). My girl had Lyme vaccine twice and I stopped and I'm not sure that I will be doing Lyme with my pup. I choose to do bordatella and do the nasal one and have with my girl for 10 years an no issues. Only giving heartworm prevention three times a year is extremely risky and I won't risk it with my dogs they are my life and it's not worth the risk. |
But that's YOU and YOU can do what YOU like for your dog. You make it sound cruel if one doesn't get a specific shot. It is been proved that you cannot escape Lyme with or without shot. There are parts of Maryland I would never want to live plus they are making it a 'sanctuary state.' Just saying.
