Monroe has been super finicky her entire life and we had to try so many things to finally find something that worked, most of the time (I still have to hand feed her sometimes).

I would try different bowls & feeding techniques (moistening the food, warming the food, mixing the wet food completely, leaving it on the side). I finally realized Monroe will only eat if the dry food is moistened with warm water for about 2 minutes then drained and mixed with boiled chicken, I can also sometimes get her to eat some wet food if I put it on the side… she will not touch any of the food if it’s mixed in. I also find that if I get her excited before putting her food down (I sing them a song) then make them sit & wait before putting down the bowls she’ll usually eat (like it’s a treat).

If I have to hand feed her I try to just get her started and then make her eat on her own. We’ve had much trial & error over the years; mostly error unfortunately.

She had an episode of either pancreatitis or enteritis last year and one interesting thing the second specialist said was, that she may have suffered from intestinal upset her entire life and that may be why she wasn’t eating. So maybe an antacid or limited ingredient food… I’d discuss with your vet.

This specialist also thought it could be behavioral; I honestly would panic when Monroe wouldn’t eat when she was so tiny… ugh, a picky Yorkie is quite the challenge! Would love to hear how it goes for you!!! Best of luck!!!
