For the past few years, my 82 year old mother has been battling cancer. I went thru all the paper work for a FMLA. Turned the paper work in and would take off to take her for Her cancer treatment. HR came to me and said, they were going to have to take disciplinary action against me for taking her to treatment after turning in the paperwork stating how often she needed treatment. I mulled it around in my head for a week and came in the following Friday and said, I'm retiring.

I didn't stay to train a replacement even.

After 40 years in the same place, it was time to go!
