Honestly, what your vet told you sounds very odd - and completely unscientific and inconclusive. So no, I wouldn't be giving a medication for something that isn't even conclusively diagnosed yet. I'd get a second opinion that includes grading of the knees, if she even has luxating patellas in the first place. Best of luck!
