I bought Thumper a Thundershirt and that helped. He also would bark when I leave. Eventually he understood the routine and it did not last long. The issue though is if I have to go back inside my apartment because I forgot something he will bark like crazy. What I do it completely ignore him. Get what I need and quickly leave. He will bark for a while but eventually calm down.
You can always purchase a camera to see how long it lasts. I have the Nestcam set up and it works wonders.
