I agree with much of what has already been said. My experience in puppy shopping has always been to start at the breed specific club, check local breeders (people who show their dogs in confirmation), I want to know the health of the line first and foremost. Is the breeder someone of good character, where are the dogs housed, do you feel comfortable with the condition of the dogs, home, behavior of the seller. When its time to meet the puppy, is the puppy alert, clear eyes, free of sickness, then check temperament.
