Life jackets are both a good precaution for new swimmers and also a tool used to keep hind end and legs up until the dog learns to swim properly. Also useful in strange waters as well.

My Yorkie loves to swim and dock jump and will not quit until I make him. I have three dogs moan n groan when I call an end to water time.
