The vet said he about 21/2 yrs. old. I went for a oil change and their was a young lady their asking if anyone wanted a dog. The other three customers and myself all said no. Then she goes away and comes back with Mr. Pooch, the others all had dogs, but he melted my heart. I live in a college town and sometimes the students are so irresponsible about pets. They get them, don't proper care for them and leave and leave the pet. Our local shelter this past Christmas was begging the community to come in an adopt and all fees were waived because so many poor babies had been left. I and the young lady agreed for me to take him the next day, she literally throw him at me and almost left her pocketbook in the haste to leave him. Yet, Mr. Pooch still loved her. We human beings could learn so much about love from our pets. I feel he and I are bonding, he's starting to follow me around the house. But I have to be careful, received a package and forgot he was behind me, and yes thank God the mailman got him before he could take off. I would be terrified as their are now wild coyotes roaming our area. Everyone, thanks again for all the kind words and encouragement. I friend is suppose to come over help me take the picture and upload it to this wonderful site. God bless all, Ed and Mr. Pooch
I wouldn't worry about treats for now. My Cody was the same way, they will not eat what they have not had. Concentrate on getting him to eat his kibble, have you tried sprinkling a bit of grated Parmesan on his kibble? if not, give it a try. Following you is a good sign he is bonding with you, but I must tell you lol, this is a yorkie "thing" where ever you are, so will your yorkie be lol. They must always have their humans in their sight lol. Although this gal wanted to get RID of Mr Pooch thank GOD she just didn't open her door and let him fend for himself, at least she went out looking to give him away, and how lucky for you that she did. He is still a playful puppy at 2 1/2 yo, once he has complete trust in you he will be more at ease, once you get him to eat his kibble keep offering dif. types of dog treats until you find one that he likes and will eat. He has to learn a new way of living, this will take time but he will come around. Yorkies are smart crafty little critters lol. Dashing out of the door is very dangerous, until you train him the command word "STAY" is there a way that you can block him from getting to the outside door? Also when you get him neutered get him micro chipped at the same time, get the name tag with your phone # and address on it, it takes only minutes to make them, put it on his collar, collars are for TAGS only, use ONLY harness and leash for walking. I keep Cody's collar with all his tags on him 24/7... 365... it comes off for bath only then the collar goes back on him. Cody is a door dasher also, but is TRAINED to STAY when someone comes to the door, I did put a gate on my front porch but ppl do not close it, Cody WOULD and has in the past flew out and ran across the road, I only had him a few weeks when this happened, thankfully he stopped to sniff and I was able to grab him, the gate went up the next day. These critters are FAST, be careful and thank you for Mr Pooch update
