My two do the same! Once each night before going to bed!
They usually start with a game of predator and prey. They hide around corners and slowly sneak up on each other. They'll actually hide for a long time. Then, they sneak closer and closer. And then they chase!!! It's hilarious!

We have hardwood floors too. When we go to my mom's, they LOVE the carpet.
