I cut no corners. My adult dogs have been physically checked and DNA tested, been a participant in UC Davis Diversity study. My dogs are OFA'd too.

I only have 2 or maybe 3 litters a year. Mama is on folic acid the entire pregnancy. She is fed high quality food. She gets scanned at about 30 weeks. She is X-rayed for size of puppies Day 59. Mama whelps in my puppy room/office. She sleeps next to me in a raised puppy pen waiting on the puppies. Her whelping pen along with my supplies, heating pads, blankets, are in the puppy room. I have another puppy pen in my family room so puppies are monitored 24/7 for the first four weeks. Puppies are weaned onto a high quality puppy food when they are 5-6 weeks and moved into an expen.

Mama is checked by my vet within 24 hours of whelping. Dew claws are done on day 3. Puppies are vet checked at 9 weeks when they get their first puppy shot and microchipped. Puppies leave at 12 weeks registered with a reputable Biewer registry.

This is totally a labor of love. Wouldn't trade it in a minute. Lots of work, laundry, screening potential buyers, puppy pictures every week while socializing the litter.

I don't need a thick skin. I need a big heart and love for my puppies and my helpmate husband.

This is the right place to come and find a mentor. Within this site there are many forums you can inquire through. One is specifically breeder info. Take a gander and perhaps talk to the lovely person who posted the above comment. She seems to have some kind words
