I myself have never used a UGO for my puppies. But I know ppl that do use them for the very same reason you have, tearing up the pads lol. In my opinion I would say it would be like pad training all over again but without a pad. Max will have to be taught to step into the tray as there is no visual of a pad. I believe you will be very satisfied with this method once Max is retrained to use the UGO. All my puppies were house broken at 7 months old and were leash walked, so no potting in the house.
