How horrible, for both them and you! As you say, Toby must have gone through something truly awful in his past to make him react that way. Poor baby!
We decided early on that we are going to keep Wookie with the puppy cut, and have invested in a good pair of clippers so we can do her ourselves. She trusts us, so it isn't too traumatic for her.
She still doesn't like having a bath much though!
