Usually metronidazole is given for 5 - 7 days. I wouldn't take her off of it...it is not just an anti diarrheal....it is an antibiotic so it should be given for the correct amount of days. They might take her off since it is 5 days, but I would ask the vet first. The carafate and pepcid probably could be discontinued since she has no symptoms; but yes, would be good to speak with the vet.
If all of her labs were good, I would ask why a snap cPL was done especially since a positive test really didn't change the treatment (just my thoughts). It is always good to ask why about everything a vet does....and if they don't explain it well, make them! She is your baby and you are paying!
I don't think Benadryl would be contraindicated, but again, you should speak with the vet. Hopefully they will call you today. I have no time for vets who don't return calls....I am with you, would be highly annoyed. |
