I don't think your vet is out of touch. Sounds like the treatment was appropriate and no, you would not necessarily change the food for that. Are you sure it was a cPL? I am curious as to why he did it if the only symptom was diarrhea. Did he say why he would think it was pancreatitis?
For diarrhea / dark stools and no other symptoms and normal blood work, metronidazole would definitely be the drug of choice...and the carafate and pepcid make sense as well.
Honestly, it doesn't sound like you need to change the diet unless you just want to do so. |
