Piperzine is effective as a roundworm medication but it would be more likely that you would be prescribed pyrantel/praziquantel since that covers round worm, hook worm, whip worm and then two types of tapeworm or fenbendazole which covers the first three and the more common type of tape- I would suspect your vet will be inclined to a broad spectrum dewormed since worms are clearly present and some varieties that your pet might be dealing with don't even present in a fecal sample. Some parasites are transferable to humans, like giardia (also treated, usually in conjunction with additional meds like flagyl, by fendbendazole) but for the most part we don't usually pick them up. Good hand washing and potty time practices are very important. I am sure everything will be okay and your vet will help you guys get back on track
Good information. Max had the broad spectrum dewormer just in case, although the vet confirmed that his worm was a tapeworm.
