I have acidophilus capsules where you can open it and inside is in powder form. I used to do this for my past dog as well, as an alternative to the dog probiotics products. From what I understand, probiotics made specifially for dogs have other good bacteria in it; the human acidophilus is just one type of the good bacteria. Anyway, after about a week, his poop finally returned to the normal consistency of healthy stool! So...soaking the kibble and sprinkling acidophilus works well for Scottie for his digestion. |
My vet had suggested the Fortiflora too. However, someone on Yorkietalk mentioned a probiotic by NaturesFharmacy and because I had already ordered it that is what I started using. Also, I learned that the NaturesFharmacy probiotic contains MORE probiotics than the Fortiflora. It has been working well for Mya along with Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat dry dog food. Hopefully we're on a good path too. It is soooooo helpful to have Yorkietalk to turn to.
