"The risk of humans acquiring Giardia infection from dogs or cats is small. The exact type of Giardia that infects humans is usually not the same type that infects dogs and cats."

That being said, if you, or your children, start exhibit any symptoms, go to the doctor and take a stool test. The common antibiotic used is Tindamax, which is one dose (4 pills, but very powerful).

The parasite usually clears in dogs after the first round of medication. Just make sure you wash your hands vigorously after handling feces, and if any should fall on a surface, use a mixture of Bleach with water (3/4 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water) and spray the surface.

Hope that helps and good luck
Thank you so much. I swear I am going to sleep better tonight and not be so nervous about this. I told my kids they couldn't even pet her till she was better because she licks constantly. I of course love on her I just don't need my boys getting sick the week school starts again.
