I also recommend flea bombs or carpet sprays. I really hate using them, but when your pups are itchy you have to do something... I sprayed the carpets and vacuumed a lot before bringing the puppy home.
If the puppy goes outside they will most likely bring fleas back with them, especially in the summer. So you have to really stay on top of it!
