Thanks so much for the encouragement. I'm still going to try to persuade her to keep the puppies with mom until at least 12 weeks, and no, apparently she plans to find homes for all the puppies at this age, not just mine. And I will take your advice also, on the crate versus playpen. I had read about the playpen idea from an owner on another website and was just thinking of the safety issue (confined but with room to move about). As far as the other dogs, I believe they would be okay with the baby; he would never be unsupervised for a moment with them. Another good thing; my daughter's schedule has changed, and she can be home more with it when I have to be at work.
