 1st Day Back to work.
Hi everyone, I just thought I would share my experience leaving my 4 month old Nemo after spending a month off.
I do work 12 hours with a break halfway through so I'm able to pop home and walk him half way through the day.
Lesson learned...a crate or "ex pen"only works at night for me. Confining him otherwise created anxiety for him. Ive tried both and maybe it seems like I'm "caving" but I found giving my dog a safe gated room helped tremendously. He'll also be going to day care twice a week to help with socializing, even though I have 2 amazing kitties that are getting past the point of just tolerating him that keep him occupied.
Another lesson. Walking. Not just 15 minutes...a good hour helps. I've been taking him on different routes just to keep it interesting.
Just thought I would share. This is my 1st time owning a Yorkie. I knew it would be work but I did not anticipate the Huge personality or Smarts. Glad I have this site for support. |
