I had inexpensive small washable throw rugs, one for each dog, (3 in all) they were trained to STAY on those little rugs that were in the kitchen for bone chewing time. When I would take those rugs out my pups knew what they were getting and go to their designated spaces lol , I could also watch how much of the bone they chewed so it could be taken away when needed.
