As long as he is eating and doing well, Karo or any other supplement is not necessary for preventative measures. My Max never needed it, although he was a sturdy 3 pounds when I brought him home.

Grooming: try to do this when he isn't full of energy. I started with Max at nap time, petting and massaging him on my lap. Then I would sneak in the comb and he would pretend to continue sleeping. Be confident, relaxed, and very patient.

Make it a positive experience and he will eventually settle into it. Touch him all over every day, ears, paws, and so on in a relaxing way. That helps them accept being touched for grooming.

I thought grooming was going to impossible, but they learn through daily practice.
