Best feeding times can vary from dog to dog. With small puppies, free feeding (food available all day) is best, or 3 - 4 small meals. My boys eat at 5 am, 11 am, and 4 pm. Yes, they like dinner early, but they get potty rewards all evening. Good to have a little in the stomach for overnight, to prevent bile throw up in morning.
He may be reluctant to eat while adjusting to his new home. My Max was funny and wanted to be hand fed his first year. Yorkies!
Leash: puppies, especially when you bring them home can be funny. Just be patient. You should stick to your own yard, preferably where other dogs cannot access until Bentley has his puppy shots. Just stand with him until he wants to move. You can try to coax him with a toy or a treat, or another human standing a few feet away.
