I am very sorry you are going through this. You have a lot going on with worrying about your 16 year old boy too.

I would be very concerned about the labored breathing. Many vets offices do recommend transfer to the ER or a 24 hour facility when their offices close. It's disappointing that the vet didn't give you better direction or information.

I wouldn't hesitate to go to the ER.
