Wasn't meant at all to be snarky! I just don't like seeing attitudes of entitlement like "
If I want her near my freaking food, I can" ... no, you can't, unless the dog is a service dog with a trained task (if you were talking about the Trader Joes incident). I respect your disability and feel for your situation and if you train your dog as a service dog for your specific needs, that is of course a different story.
Believe me, I take my dog basically everywhere I can!! I love it, he loves it! But I respect the rules as much as they often suck. My dog being in a grocery store is IMO no more unsanitary than little kids wiping snot and boogers on the carts... but unfortunately, there are rules set in place for a reason and if they let their guard down for one, then whose to say the guy with a big Great Dane comes walking in the store isn't allowed in now? It's a slippery slope.
Again I wish more places allowed dogs; I am lucky I live in a very dog friendly town, he's allowed in most of the shops, almost all restaurants with outdoor seating etc...
But you can't get mad over someone getting annoyed with a dog in a bag/carrier in a grocery store where legally they are not supposed to be in the first place. I said I thought it was common knowledge because I honestly think it would seem appropriate that a dog wasn't allowed in Trader Joes. It wouldn't be on my list of places to try and bring him, ya know?
