Congratulations on your soon to be new little baby, Biewers are such a beautiful breed. As far as training, do you want your pup to be an inside dog only or do you want her to potty only out side? Limit her space, do not give her free roam of your home until she is 100 % potty trained, always supervise when she is not in her confined space. Confining her is also a safety measure so she doesn't get hurt. I had puppies at 8 weeks old, what I did was place their paper (no pee pads then lol) in the area you want them to potty. Potty training starts the day you bring the baby home. She pees someplace take the pee pad, absorb the pee, place the pad back take the baby and place her on the pad using the command words pee pee on the pad (or what ever word you use). when she poops someplace, pick up the poop, place it on the pad, get the baby, put her on the pad with the poop and use command words poo poo on the pad. You must be consistent and patient, no yelling, no loud voice, just a firm pee-pee, poo poo on the paid. All my puppies were 100% paper trained at 5 months old. I wanted my dogs to potty outside only, when they were 100% paper trained with NO accidents I then started to train for outside. I fed them at 7AM, walked them at 7:30 AM even if they already did their business on the paper I still walked them at 7:30. Dogs have built in clocks, dogs are creatures of habit. Feed same time every day, walk same time every day. I went to work, came home at 4:30 even if they had made on the paper they were walked everyday at 4:30, Fed at 5PM, walked at 6PM, 10PM I just took them to the curb for their last pee pee and then it was bed time. At 7 months old they were 100% house broken with no accidents in the house. The key word is consistency. She will get use to eating at a certain time and that little built in clock will tell her when it is walk time, she will hold it until she is walked. Rain, sleet, hail, snow, they were walked. This is how I trained ALL my pups, this is what worked for me and my own personal experience. There are members that their dogs are outside dogs but will use potty pads. My now adopted boy, was 2.5 yo when I got him, his prev. owner walk him, he was a surrender dog and came with a shopping bag of his belongings. In that bag I found a pee pad so I knew they had used them for him. He makes outside only, he whines to let me know mama I need to pee pee or poop, I have a yard now, I let him out, I am ALWAYS with him when he goes outside When I know I will be out for several hours I will put down a pee pad for him. He will not use it, he will wait for me to come home. Dogs prefer to do their business out doors, so many yummy smells to be sniffed.
Baby proofing your home is a term I use, meaning, if you have nick nacks in low place that a pup can reach, remove them, they may want to play with them, or chew on them even just carry it in their mouth. if you have exposed stereo, tv, play station, lamp wires, as hard as this may be try to get them up off the floor, puppy can, may, will chew on them. I used a plastic pole cover that is used on shower rods, they came in all colors, had a slit all the way down to be able to wrap around the shower rod I really do not know if they still sell these. I put all my stereo, TV. play station, lamp wires inside this plastic pole cover, it worked for me. I am sure other members will be along to offer up ideas, suggestions, advise. Good luck and many happy years with your Biewer, they are ppl stoppers lol, just a gorgeous breed. Please keep us posted on her new life with your family, we all LOVE puppy stories AND PICTURES lol. (((hugs)))
