My girl has just started to have enough on the top of her head to have a topknot/ponytail. Unfortunately, my mother trim/cut her front area so she has this short area that sticks out when I pull it up. I keep telling her it needs to grow out and get into the tying, so it won't be in her face, but she complains that she can't see her eyes because of it >_>; hopefully she'll leave it alone.
But I do know my girl doesn't care for the fancy wears or having her hair pulled up (she'll start trying to pry that thing off as soon as she could). She's used to having short on top, as well as mostly short everywhere in general. So it's either longer and hanging or short and out of the way. I'm only growing the top out because my mother insisted (a compromise, of sorts), but I do know that personally she'll only tolerate having her hair pulled up for so long ^^;; If she had her way, it'll be back to what I've been having her hair trimmed at. Short.
