Default Top knot fatigue? Help!

I'm starting to think that a constant topknot is uncomfortable to Joni. Of course, I don't have much evidence. She cooperates nicely with brushing and updo. I take it down every night and massage her little noggin and usually do a loose braid for sleep. She can't go without something to hold it back all night though. The times I've tried au natural, she had it all tangled in her mouth the next morning, with drool clumping it together.

But a successful daytime topknot requires several redo's since I try to use scrunchies only during the week. (On weekends, if we are headed out, I'll use the tiny bands with a lightweight bow)

One problem is that her hair closest to her eyes is short (hopefully not broken off but possibly ) and if I don't put the scrunchie far enough back, it flops forward in her face. So either way, she seems to constantly have hair in her eyes. I know I could do a more elaborate pin back of the loose hair, but I wouldn't want all that in my hair and doubt she wants the same.

So... probably overthinking this, but what have you done in similar situation? Has anyone just gone ahead and cut it? (Really don't want to - she's just so cute with it). Groomer comes tomorrow and wanted to get some input. Tks!!!
