Default Baxter, RIPn

I am very sorry you lost Baxter, it is a very sad story.
I agree that one must be very wary of free dogs with no history or vet report.
Even now, I would feel the need to talk with the previous owner and the dog's vet to see what health issues Baxter had. To be apparently healthy and then dying so fast, the affliction must have been dire. Any pet owner who would rehome a dog with such a terrible illness is guilty of severe neglect and should be reported and punished.
Hope you find a healthy dog soon and that the pain of the loss is healed soon.
