We had a George Foreman back when they first came out. I hated using it bc it was hard to clean. The plates did not come out on the first few models. I think they come out now, but I still never cared for the tilted grilling platform. While that grill was advertised more for grilling meats, I use the panini press more for sandwiches and reheating already grilled meats. Although, there is a drain to catch the fat, the ridges aren't very high. For cooking meats from raw, I have a cast iron grill pan I put on the cooktop that produces excellent grill marks.
