At 9 weeks old, this baby is missing more than a couple of teeth....he is not completely vaccinated and should not be out in public, getting exposed to all the diseases that are especially prevalent in places like Petsmart. If he IS "completely vaccinated", whoever did that, does not know what they are doing!!! Petsmart/public places are dangerous!!! There was a lady in there one day with a dog she had JUST picked up off the street....no shots, and obviously sick....and she was walking it all over Petsmart, which was unnoticed by the employees, or they just dont care WHAT drags thru their store, full of God only knows what kind of diseases..... PLEASE!!!! NO place for a tiny, unvaccinated runt!!!!
He MAY have received an initial puppy shot at 8 weeks of age, but any shots given BEFORE 8 weeks of age are null and void....(he is still under immunity from momma and those shots are NO GOOD), that is very barely protecting him against all the diseases that kill unvaccinated babies out there. Please, take this underage, undersized baby HOME and stay there until he is at least 12-14 weeks old....he should be getting vaccinations at 8-11-14 weeks old, with rabies at 6-8 months old....this tiny, undersized baby should absolutely NOT be out in public! I am actually stunned and amazed they even took him from you at the grooming center, considering his age and size!!!!!
Take this baby home, and go buy a very good book for beginners called, "Yorkies For Dummies"....It is an excellent book that covers everything you will need to know to get you started with your yorkie....stay at home with that baby and read that book, cover to cover!! Your baby should be getting vaccinated again because his first shots are no good because of maternal immunity....you may have to wait until he get some size on him....this is such a tiny, tiny baby....please, read and learn everything you are going to need to know to keep this tiny baby alive....
You need to change vets! Any vet that is giving immunizations to an underage, actually undersized puppy, is not, shall I say, "up to date" on when to give vaccinations, as well as vaccinating such a tiny, tiny baby! How many shots has that baby been given??? And WHO gave them??? I am absolutely globsmacked! Another thing your "vet" has told you is to cut back on giving formula???? PREPOSTEROUS!!!! Yorkies nurse until they are about 9-10-11 weeks old....they may just be nursing at night, and they are learning to eat from saucers and how to lap up liquids from saucers, but please, find a vet that knows something about yorkies!!! NURSING from momma provides feelings of security and a sense of well being....
