Yes, some of the judges are real good at what they do, and know what to watch for. I have seen them make an exibitor remove the top knot to make sure that the dog's ears were actually standing, and not being held up by hairs that were put into a top knot. I respect those judges. There are so many that instead of picking the best dog, choose who is on the other end of the lead. If I know a judge is known for picking handlers or friends instead of the best dog, I don't waste my money by entering under them. When people start learning about those judges and not entering under them, even the handlers end up not getting any majors because of it. Takes time to learn who does and who doesn't. When I first started I didn't believe that that judges were like that, but time after time show people would say, this person or that person is gonna win under judge so-n-so and it actually happened I soon started watching real close for myself. The entry fees and the travel expense totals up, and I hate paying when I don't even have a chance to win.
