Good idea to get pet insurance BEFORE you take her into a specialist. You don't want the insurance to deny coverage for a pre existing condition. Get the insurance asap, then get a second opinion. I would not ask the vet about it until you get that insurance locked in (or at least make sure it's not on paper), and make sure they cover genetic conditions, not just accidents like broken bones,and routine stuff like shots/spay. No it's not.. Yes I'm looking into some now but still deciding on which to go with. Surgery is quite pricey and it would be better to have one.
