Nope no way in the city for sure.. But if you are hiking canoeing paddling into the interior where help might be 3 days away - then yes. It will become part of your emergency pack for humans n canines.
I remember canoeing into the interior of Algonquin Park many many years ago with a young cat and a young cocker spaniel. I was prescribed a broad spectrum antibiotic for emergency use. And you read correct a blinkety cat. It was crazy and I never repeated taking a cat with me camping. I was restraining the dog from jumping in the water and trying to reassure the cat about being on water.
We camped and both dog n cat kept me warm at night. You understand we were in a pup tent. But then the cat got loose and climbed a tree. OMG it took me near a day to get him down that tree. We turned around and paddled home again.
