The Zyrtek seems to be working better than the Benadryl. I have noticed less scratching. But they are still constantly licking their paws. I have a follow up call with the Vet in a couple weeks and will monitor them and see how they do.
Benadryl almost never works for allergy dogs....one reason is bc you must give it every 4-6 hrs for it even to work. Zyrtec and Claritin only work rarely.

The meds that have success w/ allergies are Atopica and Apoquel...and then also Temaril-P, steroids, and allergy shots/drops.

If allergies are all year round, then you really need to go with either Atopica or Apoquel.

Btw, you do have to wait 10 days of giving Zyrtec or Claritin before evaluating whether it's working or not...
